"Do you know the reason?"

He shrugs. "Don't care."

"Hm." That would be a reason in of itself. "So, you would have me believe you are apathetic, then."

"To this place? Sure. It ain't mine. I don't know it, so there ain't much to dismantle." So he focuses more on learning.

"I believe I'm starting to see where those self-destructive tendencies come from." He considers for a moment. "What if you had something to take apart?"

He does. There is no machine but the Wardens still each abide by one internally. He leans in conspiratorially. "Like?"

"You tell me. What is something you'd want to destroy?" A beat. Get the ideas flowing, then, "Within reason. Something I might request for you."

[guywithaplan]

One of them is confused. "Do you think I'm talking about radio parts or something?"

[improbable_logic]

"Something mechanical is, generally, what one is referring to when they use the word 'dismantle'."

[guywithaplan]

"Do I look general?"

[improbable_logic]

That doesn't even warrant a pause. "Joker, no matter how you might adorn yourself to appear different from everyone else, you are still human. You cannot restructure the entire English language at your leisure."

"Answer the question."

[improbable_logic]

An annoyed nostril exhale. "No."

[guywithaplan]

"Nice thought tho," he added. "If I were twelve and a nerd."

"I fail to see your point, and you appear to be deliberately ignoring mine. So I'll ask simply: what is it you'd want to destroy?"

"Things that don't work, but people pretend do."

[improbable_logic]

"You are referring to the Barge itself, then. Or the 'system' in place."

[guywithaplan]

He shrugs. "If there were much of one. That's the thing."

"Something else, then, fitting your specific yet intentionally vague requirements."

[guywithaplan]

"Not my fault you can't read the room. I want my knife back."

There's an ebb of frustration flowing to the surface but he tampers it down. He negotiated terms with Khan. This was nothing by comparison.

"It is not a matter of 'reading the room'. When there are terms to discuss, a compromise to be made, one states clearly what they want from the other. You said something to dismantle. I offered to acquire this for you, but you are not being clear with what a satisfactory item might be. So now, we are back to the knife. An item that could be used to perpetrate violence upon yourself or another, both things I strongly oppose. I believe we have reached a stalemate."

"I don't do compromise. You give it back or not I'm still gonna do it. You might as well make it less messy."

[improbable_logic]

He could see the flawed logic for what it was and shakes his head. "No. I will not participate in your self destruction. If there is nothing further to discuss, no other productive way I might assist you, then we are done for today."

He shrugs. "Your funeral, Doc."

He had thought to move on, but that gives him pause. "Are you threatening me, Joker?"
